Pressing, Sintering, Machining
In the press and sinter process, custom blended metal powder is fed into a die or mold and compacted into the desired shape. The "green" material is then sintered at high temperatures in a controlled atmosphere to strengthen the material. For more than 60 years, GTP has been in the wire business which begins with the pressing and sintering of tungsten and molybdenum ingots. Over the years, we have refined and developed our press and sinter capability to produce tungsten and molybdenum parts and products of every shape and size. Global Tungsten & Powders also has an on-site machine shop and the capability to produce finished parts meeting the complex specifications of your drawings.
Ingots: Beginning with tungsten and molybdenum powders or powders alloyed with different materials such as zinc or rhenium that we manufacture on site, GTP produces ingots of varying shapes and sizes. Our ingot is the starting point for many of our wire products, parts and cut pieces. Additionally, we can grind and machine the ingots we produce or sell them in their pressed and sintered form.
Wire & Parts: We have the capability to take the ingots we produce and roll and draw them into tungsten and molybdenum wire of varying diameters. We can also form our wire into parts of nearly any shape or produce cut pieces to meet most specifications. Additionally, we can plate our wire producing a wire with excellent conductive properties and wear resistance.
Billets and Forgings: GTP can produce large billets for use in the aerospace and energy industries and others. Upon request, GTP can also provide forged billets.
If you would like more information on any of these materials, please see the technical information bulletins in the products section of our web site.
