Hard Materials

When you hear Hard Materials, people in the industry typically think of two things, 1) cemented carbides and 2) powders from Global Tungsten and Powders.  GTP has produced tungsten powders for nearly 60 years.  Beginning with an expansive chemical process, GTP manufactures various chemical products including Ammonium Paratungstate (APT) and tungsten oxides.  From these chemicals, we manufacture engineered powders including tungsten metal powders, tungsten carbide powders, ready to press grade powders and thermal spray powders.  GTP also has the ability to reclaim other metals from carbide scrap complimenting our tungsten production with cobalt powder, niobium carbide and tantalum carbide powders.  GTP’s Tungsten (W), Tungsten Carbide (WC), Cobalt (Co), Tantalum Carbide (TaC), Tantalum Niobium Carbide (TaNbC) and others can be found in numerous markets requiring the special properties of hard materials.
